Good Battery Life, Little Gaming

Hi, I have owned about 3 laptops and currently have a self-built desktop. I'm helping my friend choose a laptop; he was considering Dell XPS 15 but wondering if there's an alternative.

General Questions

1) What is your budget?
Under $1500

2) What size notebook would you prefer?
d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
US

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: ASUS, Dell
b. Dislike: Sony, Acer
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
No

6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Mainly for college but also in replacement of a desktop. I don't use any special programs. I want it to handle Overwatch, but I don't think I'll play any other games.

7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Both

8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Overwatch, but that's about it. None of the high-end games like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4

9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Around 8 hours would be great. Battery life is the most important aspect that I'm looking for. It's going to be plugged in whenever I'm gaming, so the laptop doesn't need a long lasting battery while gaming. I need the battery for during the school throughout the day.

10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
I prefer seeing it, but it's not that big of a deal.

11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Windows 10

No

Soon
