I'd also say it's a bit of a waste, but not for the reasons pitz states. Really, the only benefit to faster RAM in a gaming context would be if you were only gaming on the iGPU. If you're using the dGPU, that uses its own (much faster) memory and thus really wouldn't care about what type of RAM you're running, so long as you have enough RAM to run the game (32GB being massive overkill as well).
