Metabox/Clevo Prime-X P775DM2-G vs Prime-X P870DM2-G

Hi all,

I'm planning to buy a new Nvidia 1080 Notebook specifically for high performance gaming and trying to future proof an Oculus rift as much as reasonably possible.

Right now I'm deciding between the Prime-X P870DM2-G and the Prime-X P775DM2-G from http://ift.tt/1EzPt24.

I do like the that the 775 is a bit smaller + lighter and I don't need or want an SLI set up. However i'm concerned that the 775 may be louder due to only having 2 fans instead of 3. Also the 775 has 5 USB ports while the 870 has 6. Oculus CV1 + touch requires 4 USB ports, add a mouse and you've filled your 5. If Oculus adds room scale VR then it may need another USB which would be a problem (maybe I can use the USB/Thunderbolt port to act as a hub to expand..?)

What do you guys think?

General Questions

1) What is your budget?
Ideally no more than $5000 AUS

2) What size notebook would you prefer?
Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
Australia

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Clevo, Asus, MSI, Acer etc no specific favouriate.
b. Dislike: Alienware - looks too gaudy, Toshiba - their laptops just had a cheap looking style to me

5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
No, looking for a brand new this time.

6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Virtual Reality gaming

7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Only rarely. I may move it form my computer desk to the living room every now and then to play on my TV screen. May also take to a friends house to show of on the odd occasion too :p. the size and portability isn't really an issue here. I'm more concerned on power, cooling, low decibels (of fans), and upgradability/longevity

8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Yes - VR games, RTS & FPS mostly, I tend to prefer RPG's on consoles but may do both.

9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Not an issue, I will always be gaming with it plugged into the wall. I'm not expecting long battery life.

10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
If I can see a model in store, fantastic, if not that's fine. I'm just as happy with youtube reviews etc.

11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Windows 10.

Screen Specifics

12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Keep in mind screen size in conjunction with resolution will play a large role in overall viewing comfort level. Everyone is different. Some like really small text, while others like their text big and easy to read. (Scroll down to see screen resolution information.)
4k, G-sync 120hz

13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (Scroll down to see explanations.)
Not sure. I haven't seen it as an option anymore anyway.

Build Quality and Design

14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Yes

15) When are you buying this laptop?
Within the next few weeks

16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
A good few years. Would be fantastic if I could upgrade to the new Nvidia 1XXX in a few years to meet the minimum specs of an Oculus CV2 however I understand there is no way I can 100% future proof that.

Notebook Components

17) How much hard drive space do you need? Do you want a SSD drive?
1tb - 2tb with room for upgradability

18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner?
4k bluray only if its internal so don't worry. that doesn't happen anymore.
