If you're looking for a high value notebook, I would suggest a Dell Latitude from the Dell Outlet, particularly when they're offering outlet coupons on the Dell Outlet Twitter account, which can give you significant savings. Something like the Latitudes E5470 or E5570 are well built notebooks and Latitude support is very good. I would suggest getting the FHD LCDs that are IPS screens, which have very nice PQ.
If she's just surfing the net, you don't need a power notebook. Get a SSD for the boot drive, then it'll be fast.
