Lenovo Flex 4 -1470

Just bought the Lenovo Flex 4-1470. Was supposed to be $399.99 but I got it for $329.99.
I am new at this Win10 system and find it a bit confusing from Win7.
How can you tell when battery is full charged?
Also, how do you know is Win10 AntiVirus and Firewall are enabled?
Are they good protection for this PC? Can I install MalwareBytes also?
(I believe I was told that AV is Defender and is the same as MSE. True?)
