A 14inch powerhouse, I want my Cake - Business, light gaming, long battery.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a new business laptop, but I know I want too much. I would like high end processor and dGPU, the bigger the better, but in a small frame at 14inch. I don't like soldered memory, would like a quality touch pad. I'd be looking to keep the puppy for 3 to 5 years with heavy use, it will be used for business, so it needs to be robust and classy.

I'm coming from a MacBook Pro 13 (2011), but its getting old in the tooth now and I'm needing Windows and more desktop real-estate, but want to keep the portability, hence 14 inch, it doesn't need to be 5mm thick, but reasonable like the MacBook pro 13 is what I'm looking for.

Its getting to the point were I need suggestions?

General Questions

1) What is your budget?

2) What size notebook would you prefer?
14" screen
would consider 15.6"

3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
US or UK, not worried about price as it depends on what it is.

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I'm taking all suggestions
a. Like: Mac hardware, Lenovo (but not some of there touchpads)
b. Dislike:
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
I want new, but if something is more suited for me that isn't available, I would consider it.

6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Business related tasks, conference calls (including webcam), office processing, graphics, light video editing, travel and video watching, light gaming

Oh and the most important thing, 1 millions tabs open in firefox.
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
I want flexibility in this area. It will be used for travel, but when I travel it will get hammered. I could also see it being docked, hence a 14 inch powerhouse.

8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Yes, but not a lot (only when I travel), switchable would be nice. I play FPS games currently CS:GO but have a library...

9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Minimum 5 hours, but the more the better

10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
without seeing it

11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Windows

Screen Specifics

12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Keep in mind screen size in conjunction with resolution will play a large role in overall viewing comfort level. Everyone is different. Some like really small text, while others like their text big and easy to read. (Scroll down to see screen resolution information.)
erm!... small text is fine, I'm happy with 1080p at 15.6 inch, I'm not fussed about 4k on a 14inch, so I think 1080p is fine in that space. Would also like touchscreen, but not required.

I'm open to options though.

13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (Scroll down to see explanations.)
I can take ether.

Build Quality and Design

14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Yes, but not essential, it needs to be ok for business, so no gamer led highlights...

15) When are you buying this laptop?
Over the next 2 to 3 weeks

16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
3 to 5 years and another reason for more horsepower

Notebook Components

17) How much hard drive space do you need? Do you want a SSD drive?
I can live with 512GB and SSD at the minimum

18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner?
No...
