I know a lot of people have mentioned overclocked 980ms still staying in the 70cs. What's the max overclock from anyone here on the forum?

and my main question is - given the general clevo cooling systems and cool room temps, what type of overclock is there when keep temps in the high 80cs and low 90cs before thermal throttling?

I know it may decrease lifespan, but for someone who upgrades every year or two, how far can you push the 980m and keep it below 93c?

How to install nVIDIA GeForce Driver 345.20 on a 980 GTX?

I tried copying the nv_dispi.inf from the 353.30 drivers into the 345.20 folder but then it said missing files


how to modify the inf to allow me to install the older 345.20 driver onto my 980GTX? or would that not work at all since it's an older driver?

Safe VRM temperature

Really want to know what are safe temps for VRM. I searched around the net a bit and some say it's 100C, some 125C. Would really want to know which one is the correct one. I'm toying with my GTX970 Strix a bit and with following overclock I'm getting 97C.


So far only did Furmark, no real gaming benches, so temps could probably differ a bit. Gonna play me some Witcher 3 later this evening .

Hey guys, hopefully I can get some help here.

Currently shopping for laptop for work/moderate gaming. Looking for something under an inch thick and weighing under 5 pounds.

I've found a few laptops that fit the bill all with i7, SSD. But the GPU varies between the 870m, 960m, 965m. I do CAD and 3D rendering at work and play mostly CS:GO. Is there any huge difference between these GPU's? Is the 965M overkill? Thoughts/recommendations?

High CPU Usage from Youtube?

So I recently noticed that Youtube was using a lot of CPU resources, which I thought was abnormal. I was reaching about 3-5% CPU resources idling with ~8 chrome tabs. The instant I opened a single youtube tab and played a video, CPU usage spiked to around 25% on my 3610qm. Is this normal? (It's also increasing CPU temperatures as well.)

Hi,

I've read a couple of posts here regarding upgrading various Alienware laptops to use a CPU fan with a greater throughput of air; I've recently upgraded my Ranger from the stock i7 4710MQ to a i7 4930MX, and found that although the system wasn't overheating at stock OR AW level one overclock that a more efficient fan would allow me to go a little further if I decide to later - still learning at the moment so will not risk cooking my laptop.....
