Laptop for Urban Planning/Design grad student

Hi all,

I am starting grad school this fall and looking to buy a new laptop to replace my almost 4-year-old MacBook Air.

I am not looking for a particular model recommendation (though one would be appreciated too) but more on whether my specs are good enough.

What I need to do on the laptop would be graphic design works on adobe suite and some 3D rendering with autoCAD or SketchUp though I doubt the school will give each student the Licence to install on our personal laptops so most of 3D...
