Converting L702x into SSD configuration

I have a Dell L702x with the 750GB Hybrid Drive and an empty slot.

Can I add a 750GB SSD and image the entire original drive onto that and then use the SSD as the primary?

Or perhaps move the 750GB Hybrid Drive into a RAID 1 configuration, making it a mirror?

Is it as simple as imagining it and then swapping them?
